Our story simply starts in the Snowy Mountains - thats where all the greatness began. Both sharing the love for travelling and adventure, 6 years on we continue on our never ending journey. Through the wild lands of Australia, we travel together, in our 1981 Blue Land Cruiser Troopy and dog 'Morrison'.
Seeking the great unknown, meeting new faces, getting off the beaten track and living a life on the great open road. Capturing all of our special moments through the love of analog & digital photography and making films. From snowboarding in the mountains, to working on the Witsunday islands, lived the dream in Byron Bay and moved to remote dusty places - We couldn’t think of a better way of spending our 20’s then to wander aimlessly with our eyes wide open. We are both are inspired by our beautiful planet, other humans stories, culture and magnificent animals we get to experience on a daily basis.
Our goal is to make people want to get off there couch, office chair - to stop waiting for tomorrow and start to live to explore today!
Why did we decide to escape the ordinary - to live a life travelling and working all over Australia ?
After doing a big overseas trip together across busy Bali, the vast planes of Sri Lanka and incredible Europe - which was absolutely mind blowing. We found ourselves saying a lot 'Geeze we are lucky in Australia. Which i think a lot of people take for grated of what a great diverse county we live in & have the longing to explore different country's other then there own first. So we decided to not wait till we were grey nomads to hit the road -we saved up, decked out big blue and we were going to go live the dream. Jed worked day and night (in between working full-time ) on building the back of the car and making sure it was up for the long haul drives. Being a old gal she needed a lot of work. There was endless amounts of mechanical repairs and modifications. The fit out of the back... a foldable bed - which you could turn into a couch, the awesome timer cupboard on the side with a solid timber top. 12 volt setup, lighting, fridge, you name it we were ready.
We hit the road Jess and Jed style with no plan - All we knew is that we were heading south and had tickets to Tasmania. Unfortunately one week into our year-long trip. We were visiting friends on the south coast of NSW and Jess flipped a bike, fracturing her L1 vertebra in her back and other bones in her neck.
The dream had come to a devastating end.
Very very lucky to be able to walk - the road to recovery for her would be long.
We spent the next 7 months at home Jessy regaining her mobility. It was a hard time but staying positive always helped & made us realised that life and our bodies are really precious, to never take anything for granted- you begin to be grateful for every... single day... every single moment!
In the months at home we decided to add a new member to our pack. We had wanted a dog for ages, but there was always some sort of reason why we couldn't. After everything that had happend - we realised that you only have one life and you should make it the life you have dreamed of. We found our little puppy 'Morrison' out the back of Beaudesert on a country farm'. The best spare of the moment decision we have made, making Jessy bend again...our healing puppy, full of the best kind of love. We named her after after the ledgendery Jim Morrison.
In this time Jed thought of a idea to help make camping easier now that Jess's back would not be the same as before. He stripped the back of big blue out and modified the sides of the car to have canopy doors - so all our gear would be easily accessible from outside the car. This means no more crawling into the back to grab the milk out for a cuppa. It was a BIG job ( read more about the modification on big blues page ) but totally worth it. We bought a swag to sleep in, as it would be much easier - which we have fallen in love with. So much cooler then sleeping in the troopy and you can watch the bright stars while your in bed.....
Take 3 of the big blue home on wheels design and its the best one yet.
After getting back into the daily grid of life at home, Jess starting part time Tafe and Jed back on making stone walls. We had the longing for the open road and a new adventure. But the funds were long gone from not working for 8 months, we decided to join with a Job recruitment online agency that gets you remote jobs all across Australia.
We got offered Jobs Managing and setting up a new health food cafe in the Kimberleys in Fitzoy Crossing. It sounds like a amazing opportunity to experience and live in one of the most raw, beautiful and deep cultural parts of Australia - as well to helping to teach the local indigenous communities about healthy food - which we are very passionate about.
We took the jobs, pack our lives up again in one day, said our goodbyes to all our amazing family and friends. The long dusty road awaited, once again we were on another adventure of a lifetime. This time a little different but hey whats life without big stories
Our 4,411.9 KM Journey began across the land....our tracks are to be continued.
